First before treating I would try to removed as much of the fungus as
possible so that more of the healthy skin is revealed. You can do this with
a curry comb, soap and water, combination, whatever the horse will tolerate.
You have to removed the dead skin to treat the problem. I have used this on
a very bad case of rain rot ( it almost looked like a burn) This every
other day method started to heal it up within a week. HOwever, it will take
some time depending on how bad it is.
Also there is a wonderful product that used to be called Biotek (they've
changed the name and I don't know what it is now) they have shampoo and a
spray for afterwards. It retails for around $15 bottle each, but lasts
forever. The shampoo will do more for you than spray if you have to choose.
Quite honestly, the bleach works best.
