Yeah, Teddy..... it's a scarey thought. I guess I never dreamed that I would
need so much truck for this trailer. Another problem I'm encountering is
that my family is in the automobile business. Because I'm not just going out
to buy a truck for myself, I may not have a lot of choice. I will get to
drive the thing for free, except for gas. We carry several different car
lines. The biggest new truck line that we carry is GMC pick up, though the
truck manager has been trying to find a used Ford for me because he believes
it will fit my needs best. We hardly ever get a 1 ton dually in trade and
never stock them new. It's just not practical because I suppose when people
buy a truck that large they have particular needs that are special order.
I take what the dealership people say with a grain of salt because I just
don't believe that unless they've actually done it, they understand what it's
like to haul horses. That's why I sought advice here on the board. I know
endurance people know what it takes to haul the big trailers!
Lisa Winburn has the Ford Powerstroke dually conversion, as you may know.
She hauls her big trailers to shows and things with that truck, but, of
course, they are not loaded when she does. She swears by it though.
