It is not uncommon to have some thickening in the region after a severe
tendon injury. My vet recommends daily, vigorous massage, using Mineral
Ice going ACROSS the grain (i.e. not "up and down" but "back and forth")
to break up the interlinked fibers and encourage parallel growth. After
this much time has passed, you won't be able to completely disperse the
irregularly shaped fibers but you can improve the situation. And you
have to really get in there and do it for at least 10-15 minutes per day
for it to be effective.
Basically you end up with a cosmetic problem, but unfortunately this acts
as a "flag" to observers who may infer a "problem" where none exists. It
is definitely worth the time & effort to improve the "look" of this area!
Good luck!
