A qualified yes.
Shotgun supplements or giving something because someone else does is not
correct.
Giving a natural product to prevent a problem or correct one should be ok.
The use of adaquen depends on the horses need , how he is used, and what you
can afford.
Doing TT 100/50 miles now days at the speeds we see, will take its toll and
all but the GREAT ones will be out of competition. Even MANY of the SUPER
horses are helped with these type of products.
WHY NOT. we ask them to do so much and hope we can do it for many YEARS I
think we are justified in feeding products that will help them. To increase
their longiviety. NOT keep a bad horse going on down the trail ... for the
riders ego.
NOT drugs or masking agents, but natural supplements that will prevent
problems or repair current.
Selected vitiamins, Flex products, MSM, DMG have a place...
and feed things like flax meal, rice brand, beet pulp, super feeds, oil all
the things that are discussed here, help these pardners of ours, go futher
longer and sometimes faster.
If the horse can go down the trail without pain, lamness, AND enjoy what he
does, why not..help him..
HUMANS go WAY beyond some of the simple things I think are GOOD for these
horses.
NOT ALL need these supplements.. based on the horse its self ..what he tells
us, and assorted tests we should make educated decisions.
One horse may need high dosage of E+SE while another requires very little.
I guess the MAJOR supplements I found that WORKED and solved problems are
VITE+SE
*flexey* additives
BALANCED Electrolytes.....
Other then those, the use of shotgun GP supplements are a waste most of the
time.
HOWEVER IF the horse has problems.. ie weight gain you need to find out why
and correct that problem for that horse.
All ours are on different diets and supplements, based on their requirements,
not what I think would be good for them..
I went full circle on this about 5 times or more..same results with MOST
additives NO CHANGE.
Other supplements helped..
I try a product..if after a given amount of time.. weeks months depending on
the product and the desired results... if no change is noted that one is out
of the feed room. We have been through many...
Some things cant hurt
I am experimenting with HERBS... I use many..so why not the horses..may not
help either...but many do..so I take herbs or herb blends that correct
problems or prevent problems for me... if I want to spend the money to feed a
bucket of weeds and flowers and other herbs to the horses, fine.
But I dont expect ANY of my gang to EVER best CASH >:)
You dont find a RIO CASH or BANDIT in a bucket or feed bag...
READ about the supplements not just testimoinals.. but what is it suppose to
do for the horse ...read labels what is the purpose of the ingredients....I
call the manufactures and ASK....
Read books or papers written by qualified persons that have tested these
things when NOT on the company payroll...
then try it , if you see a change for the good ... great. else save the
money for and entry fee.
