Muscle Cramps; Have you ran a Selenium blood level test? If you recall I had
many problems with cramps and NOT tying up... problem was still SE related.
The test is relative and not valid unless you have a base line to compare
against.

Only 2 labs do this.. Roche is one..
The range is 100 to 300 mcg/dl
Fame was 85, Fasha was 115.
Both had *cramps* from ride to ride.
We were feeding the *standard* powdered E/SE stuff.
Increased dosage, went up some not good enough.

Found a product called MEGA-SEL... GREAT
It is liquid based SE product. The SE is *pure* ? it is in a fruit juice
base. The horse takes it up more efficiently. The vit E is low only enough to
cary the SE.

Each oz contains 2.25 mg of sodium selenite and 50 iu Vit E. Feed 2 oz per
day until SE levels increase
I read, heard that our horses *should * get HIGHER dosages of SE since they
work so hard. The limit of 0.1PPM of SE per day in the feed is based on the
avg horse maintainance.
We also feed HIGH dosages of VIT E, 500 to 1000 IU per day for workers.
Before and after a competiton feed 2000 to 5000 IU per day. Feed 5000 IU for
about 5 days after a HARD ride (ie OD50/100).

All this has to do with FREE RADICAL processing. A subject for later.

MY RESULTS of adding MEGA-SEL
Feed 4 oz per day for ONE month
Feed 2 oz per day for TWO Month
Feed 1 oz per every day during working season
Use powder supp during off season

TESTS after two months
Fame 175 mcg/dl
Fasha 190 mcg/dl

NO MORE CRAMPS for the past 3 years.
We feed ALL our working horses MEGA-SEL

Off season We use a powder that contains the max SE and higher Vit E. We
searched for many manufactures.. settled with UCKELE E+SE ORAL 10 lb $20
best price and stonger. We feed a FULL scoop -slight over dose.

WHERE to get it MEGA-SEL
Jeffers Vet supply on sale foe $10 ?
Eq Perfomance Tech $13 1/2gal/ $20-gal plus shipping

*not a sales pitch but a solution to a problem*
