Hi - response to the OD trail markings comment - I have never done OD so can
not say about that ride -- however I do appreciate a well marked trail -- I
agree that I much rather concentrate on my horse and the trail then be
doubling back over ill marked areas -- I must say that in my region the Ride
Managers do a wonderful job -- thank you everyone of them!! Getting lost on
my own accord would be bad enough on trail, to get lost due to no trail
markings out there over turns, in the dark, and around some tough trail and
such would be frustrating as well as dangerous to say the least. When I have
marked trail I try and look at the trail like someone who has never done the
trail might, we all know the trial looks different once you've seen it, done
it. Then I double think any question mark spots - have used plastic plates
(they don't melt in the rain) with arrows in permenant marker in those iffy
spots/or turns. Even a well marked trail, can produce at least one lost
rider, but if many miss the same spot I would want to double think for the
next year. The trails being marked to follow makes SUCH A DIFFERENCE, again
thank you to all the volunteers who work the rides in the Pacific Northwest
region that make trail markings for us to ride the rides!!
May we all Ride Safe and Sound -
