I rode a Standardbred Arab cross years ago, and did very well with him in
the GMHA (Vermont) 100 mile competitive ride (final score 98, ECTRA). He
was a little obnoxious, but tough as can be, and sound, and enthusiastic.
Huge trot, good walk, not much canter. Attractive animal, I thought; my
Arab-enthusiast friends said of him "boy, you sure can see the Standardbred
in him", and my friends who admired Standardbreds said "There sure is a lot
of Arab in him," but he had good characteristics from both sides.
