If someone out there could help me, please, I would greatly
appreciate it. I am in a position where I have free run of a
stable, meaning I may use any of the horses that I'd like to.
There are about twenty, but a couple are boarders. Of the
half dozen horses available (old enough to be ridden, not
pregnant, etc) there are three I like a lot. Could you help
me rate them ? (I would like to use the one I pick to work
with regularly in short endurance rides, mainly for fun) I'll
try to make it short...

1.> King's Cowgirl II is a 15-15.1 hh eight year old TB/QH
mare. She's a paint with lots of spunk. (I know the Arabians
would probably do better, but she's such a sweetheart I would
like to know the chances of a TB/QH) She's been called a
crazy, and that's why I have a good shot at buying her if I
like the way she goes.
2.> FH Camelia is a 14.2-14.3 hh eight? (under ten) year
old bay Arabian mare. She's pretty nicely built muscle-wise,
smooth but full. I like this because she's 'there' and I feel
like I've really got a horse under me (if that makes any
sense?) She was a racing Arabian and did fairly well, though
she never came in last, she seemed to hang around second place
most of the time. When we trail ride, she goes all day and is
very nice to ride, straight, smooth, forward action. Cammy is
not for sale, so if I love her once I get her in shape, I can
not buy her. The good thing, though, is that she has no
chance of being sold out from under me as soon as she's in
competition-shape. She also, unlike KayCee (above), will go
on trails with other horses and get along with them.
3.> Aimee is a ~15 hh 'white'- grey Arabian mare from race
stock, though she was never raced. She has not been ridden in
a couple of years as everyone thinks she's a 'demon.' I think
she was just handled too rough in the beginning, as she is a
sweetheart when you set back and let her come to you and take
it easy with her. She's lighter built than Cammy or KayCee,
but still enough 'there' to be a nice ride, and also very
comfy. There is little chance of her being sold, as she
throws wonderfully fast colts. (she is not going to be bred
for a few years, though, since they have two colts coming up
and are becoming a little less active in racing - there is
another mare I didn't mention (a 14.2 hh 4 year old black-bay
filly off the track) though I really love her, too, because
she was bred this Spring and I want a horse I can ride; I've
been going at my 23 year old gelding's pace too long)

Okay, and a couple of quick beginner-type questions...
I'm 5'9", notskinny/notfat, about 155 lbs (tell NOone:) and
fifteen years old.
Where do I stand in the way of competition classes? Do I
need a bigger horse because I'm very tall? Does a darker
horse (because of heat absorption/reflection) have a disad-
vantage to a lighter coloured horse? Where could I learn
about the rides before competing? (I was think of crewing for
someone, (but have no endurance riding friends) I live in
Central Florida and can not go far until next Spring/Summer,
unless I'm lucky enough to land the job I want in Ocala on a
TB ranch or somewhere out west on a working ranch...

Well, that is MORE than enough, I'm sure. If you've made it
this far in my post, thank you very much! I hope to learn a
lot from this list and maybe one day be able to compete
successfully (:finish:)

TIA~
