[endurance] Why Should I Join AERC

I am not currently a member but I have considered it. But for $75/year
membership fee, what do I get? What is the advantage of becoming a
member. If it is to support AERC, I am all for that - but I pay an
extra $10 at each of my rides because I am not currently a member - so
in a way, I am supporting AERC. What are some of the benefits of being
a member? The newsletter? Not a real incentive to me.

Does AERC lobby in Washington, DC, on our behalf? I do not ride
the rides to get high points - I just ride them to complete and have fun -
the points are just extra for me - although I enjoy it when I come in
with the top riders :-).

I have asked different people the benefits/advantages of being an AERC
member but no one can answer the question because they don't know
themselves. One answer was that they get to go to the convention and it
is fun! Is that all there is? Maybe some AERC Board member can answer
this for me. I really want to know. Thanks.
