Umm, since this is obviously directed at my Biltmore piece(s) (among
others) and since you chose to send to the entire list I'd like to respond,
but this will be my *one and only* post to the list on this subject.

I am not intending this to be flammatory - I just want to make a couple of
points. I typically abhorr these kind of responses as I feel that posts
like this to the list do exactly what everyone is talking about - *clutter*
the list! With that said....

Every list I am on and have been on goes thru this stage - it seems to be a
cyclical thing where technical/hard core information is outweighed by
"chatty" or humour and there is always someone that doesn't like it and
feels compelled to let everyone else know. So this is not anything peculiar
to this list or this group of participants.

I recieved several positive responses to my post about biltmore (both of
them) off-line. So someone else (actaully several of them) out there likes
to read posts that are not 100% training related or just a listing of
results. Not *one* person responded to me negatively about those pieces -
except you and you chose to do so in a public forum.

I am sorry that you did not find my posts humurous or felt it clogged the
airwaves - I have also felt the same way about *many, man*y other posts or
even _entire threads_ - as I'm sure is true of everyone. I just hit the
delete key because I feel that, although it may not interest me, it may
interest others. I would hope in the future you could just do the same or
email me (or the next person) offline.

I for one, _really enjoy_ reports on rides much more than the results. If I
was there I know the results and I if I wasn't they are not that important
to me so I typically hit the big D key. What I like to know is what a ride
is *really* like - management, markers, enought people at the vet checks,
whether they had good coffee and food, the kind of stuff that makes a ride
fun so I'll know if it's one to put on my list - there's a lot more to a
ride than just results.

The only way to keep a list on-topic like you and others have suggested
lately is to moderate it and I, for one, *don't* want to see this list
become heavily moderated and I suspect you and others (especially
Stephanie) don't either. Then you get into deciding topics, setting up
arbitration committees and rules for infractions, etc., etc. I've been on a
list like that and got off - it wasn't pretty :-<

Back to your regularly scheduled *endurance* programming :->

directed at her)
Embers (what's a fray?)
Tony (I dunno but I bet I'd have to spook at it if I saw it)

Oh, and, Sandy, on Tuesday, June 11 there will probably be something from
me about my experience at the OD - just warning you so you can put your
finger over the delete key :->
