The Biltmore was won by Debby Gordon on Redman, as well as BC. Valerie (on
Fire) and Danielle (on Cash) Kanavy 2&3. I don't remember the exact order of
the rest of the top ten people, but I think it went Amanda ?(sorry I don't
know Amanda's last name), Cheryl Newman (on Smokerise Strut), Ellen Tulley
(on Bahrain), Nina Warren, Melissa Crain (Whoa Jack?), a gentleman from
Italy riding a Kanavy horse, and tenth was me on Stashu :). 64 Started the
100, 38 finished. The weather was hot, humid, foggy, intermittent downpores.
As a result the usually marvelous footing turned to slippery red clay, hence
the high attrition rate. The veterinarians said there was a lot of hind end
stuff. Congrats to the Northeasterners: Maniacs: Kathy Brunjes who got the
monkey off her back (and Tom too), Irving McNaughton who hung in with the
longest ride, Norma House (14th) and Kathy Downs who did a little extra
mileage. Hey, white and yellow DO look a lot alike after 70 miles!
Congrats to Vermonters Lucy Snook who finished 20th on her rookie horse
Kestrel , Lee Alexander (Crystal Mint) and my dear friend Steve Rojek (11th)
on his rookie horse Sage.
