Sounds like the title of one of those "what I did with my summer papers",
doesn't it? Well, excuse me while a brag a little, and please pardon me
if I scream... But guess what guys?? I GOT 5th!!!!! *:) And I was in the
running for Best Condition (came in either 3rd or 4th there). It was a
-really easy- 30. I kept wishing I'd done the 50. Mostly flat, with some
rolling hills, soft trails or dirt roads, only a little rock. We train on
"mountain goat hills", and lots of rock, so this seemed like a piece of
cake. At least now I know I'm ready for a 50. Prineville 50 here I come!
Special's vet scores were very good, her heart rates and recovery were
really good. After the ride, we both felt so good, that later in the
afternoon I saddled her up and took her for a little ride in the brush.
*:) I was in 4th most of the ride, until a training buddy of mine caught
up with me. Then we played push me-pull you, to the finish. When we got
to the finish she called out for pulse before I did, so she got 4th. Her
time was 1 min. faster than mine ;( oh well..... My time was 2:12 for 28
miles. We did the last 9 miles to camp in 1/2 an hour. Smooooth
Sailing.... It was TONS of fun! Special and I both had a blast, and did
really well. It was great! I've dreamed of doing endurance since I was a
15, and riding a horse in the sage brush of Eastern Oregon since I was a
little kid. This weekend I got to do both (and really well too) <<BG>>
I have to tell you all a funny on myself though, so many people told me
not to foret to breathe. Too funny! I caught myself doing this.
Remember Marisa, BREATHE!! Guess I'm lucky I didn't get dizzy, pass out,
and fall off...
Wishing all of you dreams come true....
