Louise, sure why not? I've obviously awakened the masses! Certain
pedigrees seem to have a predisposition to doing well at different things.
Russian horses seem to excell at racing; Polish seem to excell as "english
or halter" show horses as well as racing; Spanish seem to excell as halter
and western show horses; American horses seem to be good as "western,
halter, stock type horses. Egyptian, halter and english. You can add
"pretty" with Egyptian, American; size with Russian, Polish. None of this
is "hard" facts. If I was going to be in endurance I would look for the
Al-Marah Radames lines.
Bazy Tankersley has done a remarkable job with producing "athletes" over
time. Her horses are doing very well as "stock" type competitors. I once
owned an Al-Marah gelding. His name was "Ghandalf's Legacy". We did some
endurance with him. Not much.
If we had the time and he was five years younger I would have had some fun
in endurance with him. The "Radames" lines were superb athletes! We breed
first for conformation, then disposition, then "pretty". "Pretty" usually
comes with conformation. We NEVER consider color. Pedigree is helpful if
you are trying to determine what the strengths are in a certain line. At the
present time (1998 foal), we are interested in breeding a good "Western"
horse. This year we expect a baby that will enhance the "english" potential
of the dam. We will probably do that one more time. Then we are breeding
to a stallion, purchased from Varian Arabians, Star of Fame V. He was
purchased by a friend that leased a mare from us to breed to "Bey Shah". I
think that we will breed the same mare to Star of Fame V. If you would like
to see what he looks like, get to your search engine and type in Arabian
Stallions. The hypertext reads "no title provided" with
some limited info about him. Hope that helps. The above is purely
subjective. Best regards, Al
