As long as we're discussing breeds for endurance, I'm curious about
something. My good friend Kay has a Saddlebred that she's re-training.
I'm going to start taking her out on trails with me soon. And she also
rides with a mutual friend who does endurance. (who also happens to be
lurking on this list *:)) I've been sort of helping her (a little) with
this horse, and think that he would make a * killer * trail horse. Once
we get him out on trails at all, we will bring him along slowly with lots
of LSD. But I think he's got lots of potential. He's very intelligent,
has wonderful gaits, and has -lots- of go! So the question is--does
anybody ever use Saddlebreds for endurance?? Kay's main love is
jumping. (Which he happens to do well) But she is getting interested in
endurance, and has started riding with us on our horses alot. The other
question is--does "roaring" interfere with the intake of oxygen, or does
it just make noise?? And if it does interfere with the breathing
capacity, does that change with the operation for it? He is a "roarer"
and she's thinking of getting the operation to get it fixed. But we were
wondering if it interferes with breathing ability, or just is noisy.
Thanks!!
