[endurance] Circle Y

I understand that the Sport Saddle folks license the rights to their patent
to a company called Circle Y, and that Circle Y makes a replica of the
Sport Saddle.

Does anyone know anything about this? Has anyone tried the Circle Y
version?

I have pretty definite opinions on this.

I have one of each. An endurance model made by Sport Saddle, and
a Training and Schooling made by Circle Y (Circle Y calls THIS
saddle their endurance saddle, but it has the deeper pommel and
cantle)

We made a deal through a tack store in Utah to buy 10 Circle
Y Sport Saddles and got a discount. We were supposed to have
the saddles in 8 weeks, took more like 3 plus months, but then
this is no different from ordering them from the parent company.

But when they came, there were problems. One had a definately
twisted body, and also nails sticking through the seat. It was
sent back. Some had really sloppy and loose stitching, and
different colored stitching. I kept mine, it had no glaring
errors, just sloppy compared to the one from Sport Saddle. They
all looked like they were just thrown together. My advice is
to not do it, especially since some I have seen in tack stores
cost more than ordering them from the Parent company or Genie
Stewart Spears.

Remember, Circle Y DOES NOT make the endurance model! They make
the Training and Schooling, which is rigged differently and also
heavier. By rigged, I mean stirrup position.

The saddles from Sport Saddle also have leather reinforced stirrup
leathers (they are nylon), while the Circle Y ones are nylon on
nylon.
