[endurance] sport saddle and sitting

Since we're talking about saddles and someone asked about the sport saddle...

I have a Circle Y Sport Saddle I use on my TWH. It gives him great movement
of shoulders and never any back pain. it did give me saddle sores though, I
think because of how it is flat and round conforming to his fat back (we're
in the early conditioning stages). I got a "seat saver" and that fixed that
problem. Otherwise I find it very comfortable and I get great feel of his
movement. I get little knots in his hair under the cantle area, but I am
riding with only a navahoe blanket under it. I think it is caused by the
blanket as it does not occur when I use a friends pad - I am saving for a
Skitto pad.

since he is a TWH, I ride both his pace and running walk when doing training
rides. I usually post to his pace or stand in the stirrups but I sit to his
running walk. I've never had any soreness, whether he was in condition or
not. I do try to alternate gaits regularly so as to cause less fatigue and
rest his back.

My 2 cents

- Carrie and Graham.
