Thanks, Wendy. i didn't know quite how to put it gently, but it offended me
to hear that it was "an act of God". God had nothing to do with it. I just
finished telling my daughters that once upon a time God gave all of us
brains, and occasionally we have to hunt for them. He also gave us a freedom
to make our own decisions. Good or bad, they are ours, and there are
generally consequences to pay for poor decisions. I have heard from numerous
style-conscious riders that "it didn't help Christopher Reeve". Oh no? He
might very well have died without it, and while some people may not consider
his life now "living", I have an uncle who has "lived' that way since he went
down with the SS Hornet at Pearl Harbor, and I don't think he belives that he
has not lived. The pain of loss this way is excruciating. My prayers are with
the family, and my hope is that EVERY RIDER, keep in mind that how they look
in a hard hat is not nearly as hideous as they would look in traction or in a
casket. That is what I tell my children. Rog, we're with you. Sandy
