>HOw did THEY come by all their research materials?
Most of us who do pedigree research have over the years bought our
materials. Some of the more important and rare historical books can cost
over $500 each! The registry has to have all that information for all
countries recognized by the World Arabian HOrse Organization.
>HOw would youlike to pay money to find out geneology on you?
Actually, if you do any geneological research you *do* pay to find out
geneologies even on yourself. Again, I don't have a problem with the
payment as such. I do have a problem with the access.
>Who do we write to? I have problems with the Registry besides this- I don't
>think they are helping us keep the breed intact and they certainly don't
>care that the older rarer ones get any notice.
If you look at what the registry claims to do they are not concerned
about keeping the breed intact. There is no recognition of the need to
preserve genetic variability or in fact track anything. All they are
mandated to do by their own mission statement is to keep a database of
purebred Arabain horses and ensure the purity of horses registered in the
US.
