I like the idea as well. I generally keep my own books, but sometimes
it is very difficult to get your ride cards back from management.

What I'd like to see here, is a complete discription of what is in
the log book.

Is each page loose leaf (rather than bound book)?
Dive (scuba diving) books are loose leaf, while flight books
(for pilots) are I think bound.
What is on each page?
How big are the pages and book?
Is there room for training information as well?
This is why I'd like a loose leaf book.
Another reason for loose leaf would be if some one forgot their
card, they could be given a page for their book.

I've seen many different forms for vet cards at different rides.
Although they have basically the same information, they are
presented differently. A standard form would be nice.

I think there would be some resistance to a manditory log book.
But, if all members of the AERC were sent books when they signed
up, and if ride management started using them at all rides, we
could slip the log books into general use before anyone noticed:-)
It would only take a few years:-)

For those of you outside of the US, there is a general resistance
to anything manditory being "forced" onto the general public.
We don't have a manditory helmet rule in effect, although it is
generally recommended and frequently a discount is given.
Give us our freedom.
