I have to ride when I can. I work full time and don't get home until after
5:00 in the Michigan winter darkness. I try to ride at least twice a week,
even if only for 45 minutes or so. I don't purposely ride in the dark just
to cover miles. I trailer to an indoor arena during winter months often and
just work on my seat or leg him up a little. This is also a good opportunity
to do more with your trail horse than endurance riding. I work cattle, work
him over cavalettis, and basically keep our bond going (much from ground work
too). Michigan winters are miserable when all you want to do is ride!
