[RC] horse histories & fatalities? - Mary Krauss

In wandering through the archives to hear more about Maryben's coon- footed wonder-horse Q-Ball (omigosh btw, she wasn't kidding-wow), I stumbled across Julie Suhr's comment about the difficulty in assigning causes to horse fatalities. Moving from horse histories to her comment made me wonder about why we don't go ahead and try to add a "cause of death" detail in as many of the records as we can. It could be wholly voluntary so that, if I know my deceased horse is an AERC member, I can voluntarily fill in a space describing how my animal died. I'd love to get a sense of how many high mileage horses live into their 30's (betcha lots do!), and that sort of thing.
