[RC] LD and 50 Mile Horses - sherman

Title: Message
I would think that a horse doing LDs that has good recoveries, eats & drinks well, has no lameness or metabolic issues, doesn't have to be pushed down the trail and isn't fatigued at the end of an LD could be a 50-100 mile horse.  LDs are good conditioning for 50-100 mile rides. If you want to win, there are probably other things you'd want to check out, but I don't know since I'm not very competitive.

What characteristics/build/muscling/stride characteristics/etc make for 50 mile plus horses vs the LD horse?? What does one look for in an LD horse that would lead one to believe they'd be good for 25-50 mile multi-day rides??

Thanks,
Val
