[RC] Folsom trails/bikers/false info! - Kathie Ford

This is just a courtesy note to let riders know that apparently false information has apparently been given out that the Pioneer Express Trail is open to Mt. Bikers. Especially sensitive and narrow areas from Granite Bay to Rattlesnake and on up into Auburn. Tracks/bikes have been seen by riders and runners/hikers. Many have been down right rude.

Apparently some riders were told that this trail is now Multi Use...IT IS NOT. It is and has been designated ONLY for equestrians and foot traffic (hikers). There has been NO change in the policy regarding this trail whatsoever.

This information has been verified AND clarified by the Park Superintendent and followed up by Donna Williams, our trail liasion and ACE. the last day or so for confirmation.

If you encounter bikers, the Park  really requests that EVERY time is reported so they can be tracked and possibly caught by the rangers at the trail head or nearest area if they are in the area.

I will forward the email by the superintendent to anyone who wishes to see it.

The Park does NOT want any bikers on that trail at all.

They have also suggested how to deal w/a situation if you encounter resistance from a biker.

We are not to be confrontational.  We are to tell them they are not allowed and where the best exit is to get them off the trail. Do not get angry. Take a photo if you can (cell phone photo works great) description of biker/bike etc if possible.

If you are threatened call 911 and then dispatch and give location.

The most important step is to REPORT it asap. There is a website to make reports of the incident.

I will post that a little later...have to feed my horses.
