Re: [RC] pulling shoes - Elizabeth WalkerI just had one thought, not sure if it makes sense in your situation. However, what about having her x-rayed when her feet are in their "imbalanced" state. One thing I have heard of is that some horses can look unbalanced on the outside, but the bones inside the hoof capsule are in proper alignment. If the feet are then "balanced", the bones are actually put out of alignment. This may or may not be the case with your horse, and it may or may not be a financially viable option for you. So at the end of a couple of rides around on gravel roads, she is totally sound, but left with a long medial toe, and totally wore off her toe on the lateral aspect (in the fronts only, backs are fine). The difference is pretty significant between the sides. Has anyone ever seen this before? And do you think that there are some horses that just are not conformationally suited to being barefoot? Perhaps just ride her in boots to keep her from wearing that toe unevenly? -Elyse =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
