Re: [RC] shin splints - kstandeferProbably a lot to do with leg length, calf conformation and maybe horse's stride and how one sits that particular horse. I am short with a 28". My calf muscles are really big for my size and very well developed (like the kind you see in bicyclists). I can't wear knee socks even. I wear half way up the calf socks and fold them down on the OUTSIDE of my pants. I also can't wear pants with knee patches because, since my legs are so short, they come half way down my calves and cause friction. So, I either order Carousel's without knee patches, or else take the patches off my Irideon and Kerritt winter tights. Karen P.S. I also use a fender instead of 1" stirrup leathers. That helps a LOT! ----- Original Message Follows ----- From: "Barbara McCrary" <bigcreekranch@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Sharon Levasseur" <sharon1359@xxxxxxxxxxx>, <normanjudyv@xxxxxxx>, <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [RC] shin splints Date: Tue, 17 Feb 2009 17:58:58 -0800 This is so interesting. How can results of wearing half chaps be so 180 degree opposite for different people. I simply wouldn't go riding without them and have never had any problem. Is it human conformation, or ???
