[RC] re: half chaps and shin splints? - Kitley, Carrie E Civ USAF AFSPC 30 MDSS/SGSLFI always wear 1/2 chaps too and have never experienced any problems. I wear a size bigger than I need though too, maybe that helps. The ONLY reason I wear them is to protect my precious Kerrits from ruination by the "attack bushes" on our trails. If I ride in my jeans, I don't bother with chaps. The only time I ever had shin splints was in high school on the track team. At the time, the coach said it was from running on a hard surface. Maybe people with splints need cushier shoes softer stirrup pads? ~C OK, Judy. Please explain. I've worn 1/2 chaps in endurance for over 25 years and have never had a sore shin. Cindy Also, half chaps are the main cause of shin splints. Don,t know know how so many people can wear them. Must have a high tolerence for pain.
