I guess I intended to include whatever caused the
sudden stop at the end of a fall. I did not include tree limbs, they are
causes of falls, not falls.
As far as water. If the creek is deep enough,
the water does a good job of mitigating the effects of the stop at the end of
the fall. It can, however, produce discomfort especially on cold days or
when it happens 2 miles into a 50. (Don't ask how I know that, or
specifics of the discomfort. You will just have to trust me.)
