Re: [RC] Completely healthy? - Barbara McCraryAll of the major accidents I have survived...broken ribs, lost and broken teeth, arthritis, and back problems have occurred during horse-related activities. Other than that, it is a great activity if you have a relatively reliable horse to ride. However, one can never completely trust what is going to happen with any given horse at any given time. I highly recommend avoiding ground-based Yellowjacket's nests.Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "k s swigart" <katswig@xxxxxxx> To: <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, February 16, 2009 11:15 AM Subject: [RC] Completely healthy? Anybody who thinks that horse riding is "completely healthy" is off their nut. The health risks associated with horses are HUGE (mostly because horses are huge), and it is even encoded in many state laws that equestrian activites are "inherently risky." Participants in horse activities may decide that the health risks associated with equine activities are worth the benefits (pleasures) that you get from participating, but that does not, by any means, make horse riding comletely healthy. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
