I always think about how I would ride if I was riding bareback...my  
dressage instructor is forever making me ride without stirrups and if  
you do that with a hot Arab, you figure out quickly how to balance  
yourself.  Now, if only I could keep that exact body position when I  
pick up the stirrups :)
