Re: [RC] I couldn't afford NOT to (was: Towing Vehicle) - Truman Prevatt

Give them time - they are not hurting enough yet. We are in a deflationary period where prices are dropping. If they brought it onto their lot 3 months ago - it's worth less today than when they bought it. The dealers are either looking at selling what they have or have them sit on their lots. Eventually they will bite the bullet and sell off what they have at a loss.

I have a nice BMW passenger car along with my now beater Chevy 1/2

more per year than having a single vehicle in insurance, maintenance
and repairs. I don't have a big enough commute to justify a low
mileage passenger car. I am thinking I should unload both and get a
diesel truck. I guess I'm waiting for my Chevy to die or me to get
rich - one of the two.

I keep on looking for a good deal on diesel trucks, but it seems
dealer's screaming deals are only on low mileage luxury trucks with
leather seats here in my neck of the woods. Not what I want.

I disagree partially. No matter how many miles you drive with a vehicle,
you still need to (should) change the oil regularly, and even if you're not
driving a car (enough), it still needs maintenance. If you drive a car
less, it doesn't need AS much maintenance, but it still needs it, there is
still a financial addition of maintenance for two cars, than one. Like I
said, I can't be sure of the amount to consider between the two, but there
is still something there.
