[RC] Wednesday AHA CTR update - Lucie Hess21 horses started on a very Blustery Day.. Windy, wind gusts around 30 MPH, sometimes cold, sometimes warm.. very odd day.. NO rain. The horses had to keep a 6.5 mph pace with a 1/2 hour window. Several riders said they had trouble keeping that pace and had to gallop in. There are some places where it is difficult to maintain that speed. I think 2 riders didn't make it in on time. Luckily the last loop was one of the easier loops which you could gallop on, if you needed to. 5 riders were pulled for Lameness, so 16 riders finished today and they start again tomorrow. One error, Valerie Kanavy is not in the CTR, somehow I thought she was, my
mistake! What is really nice is there are several CTR Organizations here, with everyone pitching in helping. UMECRA has quite a few people here as does NATRC. OCER/AERC folks are helping with the CTR also. I think Eric Rueter is a SEDRA Member. He's the ride manager. The two CTR vets are NATRC vets. I'm learning alot about the judging of an AHA CTR, different rules. I'm being a Vet secretary, so I'm learning a lot! Several NATRC riders here in the CTR too. I think some of them were pulled, unfortunately, I can't remember all the names right now. OK.. time for bed.. an early day tomorrow! Might even be wet too.. Let's hope not, the trails were in really good shape with the footing! More later Columbia, MissouriNATRC Region 6 AERC # 65 AERC Central Region OCER member
