Re: [RC] against change the pulse time down - Diane TrefethenBut this always raises the question: what did you do in the vet checks DURING the ride, and why is the finish any different? Some differences: 1) At the finish, the horse has gone 50+ miles while at the vc's it has not. 2) No matter what condition a horse is in, it is fresher, cooler and usually pulses faster earlier in the ride and its CRI is better than at the finish line. 3) For most rides, the ambient temperature increases throughout the day. For example, in California's central valley, in Summer, temps tend to peak around 5pm, just when slower, heavier muscled horses are completing. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
