It's a very fine powder and since I feed a beet pulp/Senior mash, it mixes in nicely and doesn't sift out. I wonder if sifting out might be a problem on a dry feed. I also like it for my horse because it's lots of calories in a very small volume. He will only eat a certain volume per feeding and then he's just done. I was finding with other fat supplements (pelleted) that I couldn't get him to eat enough of it due to the volume. I just wish I could buy it locally and not have to pay shipping for it!Taryn Dentinger AERC M34036
