Re: [RC] blankie for baby-yes but - Karen Everhart
But, if "grandma" buys the baby a blanket, and the baby doesn't get to grow
a healthy hair coat it is potentially compromised if the blanket is not on when
the temps change unexpectedly. AND, if the blanket is not taken off every day
and checked, sores and rubs can develop OR, if the baby gets damp underneath,
the baby may get rain rot.
So, if the baby has shelter from the wet (good stand of trees or a loafing
shed) then save your money for a good farrier to keep the feet in great balance,
or routine dental care starting at age 2, or perhaps lessons with your daughter
(think of it as college) later in life.
OR, contribute to the development of a will or trust so that if something
happens to your daughter, her horses future are provided for.
Just some thoughts.

But when your daughter makes it clear that her mares' foals are
going to be pretty much it as far as grandbabies go--grandmothers want to go
out and by baby blankies.
