I don't know about renegades, however, the old style EZ boots work fine
over shoes assuming the hardware holds together. I did the ROC in '96
with EZ boots all around. I didn't intend to but my shoeing options
didn't work out so I threw on EZ boots all around over the shoes and
did it. I did have a strap break coming out of the check at 55 miles. I
had an extra boot with me and popped it one and fixed the strap at the
next check at 65 miles. Then going into the next check at 80 miles I
noticed a buckle had broken. I put the spare on - put an old spare in
my pack and finished the ride.
They worked but I highly recommend carrying spares with you if you use
EZ boots.

I have used in the past the std EZboot over shoes. Never came off. I used the old
cleat style, difficult to remove.
:) I made it 80 miles at the OD100 one year with boots over shoes on all 4 ..
before she ran out of gas and we had to quit. Her hoof soles etc were great.
But I just love my Renegades. Foxtrotter goes great in them. Rocks mud hard roads
etc. Gaits great with them now.

For you renegarde users out there, can you tell me if you can use the renegades
over steel shoes? I don't intend to ride with them that way, just to add a bit
more hoof protection to a horse that's recovering from a founder episode (long
story, don't ask unless you want to be bored to tears....)
I've had people recommend the soft-ride boots to me as well, but I don't think I
can use those over shoes (correct me if I'm wrong for those that know...?)
