Subject: [RC] Auburn fires. Dan Schafer
& the horses?
I just came from a
pleasant ride with Dan, all is well. As the crow flies, Dan, Andy, Kathie F,
and I are all about 4 miles from the devastated area and I did not feel
threatened at all, but was watching carefully as we (Kathie & I) helped
evacuate Dawn, only about 2000' away from the north end of the fire.
It has not spread any since then that I know of. Yesterday when it
started, it looked like it was in my neighbor's backyard, down in the Bear
River canyon. I was thankful to find it was not, by keenly
aware that an increase and more steady wind could push it into our area very
quickly. We're deeply saddened by all the loss of property, including
the home of my husband's co-worker. However, the loss of property is nothing
compared to the lives lost in SoCal. I hope and pray that the fires can be
brought under control without any more loss of life, especially the
firefighters who put their lives on the line for us and our property. God
bless them and keep them safe.
Kathy
Kathie
Ford or anyone who might know Dan Schafer, Hey Kathy, I just read about the
fires taking out 60 houses near Bell Road. I've been calling & calling but
I haven't been able to get through to Dan Schafer. Are the fires near his
place? Do you know if he's had to evacuate his ponies and my horse Cabo? Smoke
is just about the only thing on this planet that will scare Cabo and get him
to bolt and jump a fence. Damn I hope Dan & everyone is OK. Sounds very
scary. Are YOU & yours OK? Any word on Dawn? I know she got the critters
out but the last word was that she was going back to battle it out at her
house. My prayers are with you. Call me (719)748-1300 Melissa
