Re: FW: [RC] Bakersfield, CA - Nancy SturmMy dad, now 93, grew up on the Mojave Desert, graduating from high school in Lancaster. His father worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad and they moved their large family from time to time because of his work. So my dad was born in a boxcar in Lancaster and went to college in Fresno. He still misses the open vistas of the California desert and has never completely adapted to the more closed valleys and mountains of Southern Oregon. His grandfather was posted at Ft Tejon with the US Calvary. I think there is (or was) an endurance ride there.
