Re: [RC] Bakersfield, CA - Nancy SturmActually an Icelandic would be an excellent horse for this kind of terrain since you can gait on the flat most of the time. I look for this kind of terrain because I ride Peruvians. Since we train only in the mountains, we would relish some of this nice flatter training ground for any of our horses. My Icelandic and TWH are both tough mountain horses, but they really have not had any other choice. At most, we have 1/4 mile of flat ground where I ride in Southern Oregon.
