[RC] Tevis! and rides... - Steph Teeter

Just back from a wonderful 2-day ride in the mountains - Pink Flamingo Classic - great forest trails, perfect footing, lots of fun and good energy. John and I rode both days (a real treat). A huge group of riders for an Idaho ride - 130 starters (50 and 30 miles) on Saturday, 90 on Sunday - from Canada, and all over the Northwest. Great ride.

And Teddy Lancaster (Runningbear) was there with her shop on wheels and satellite internet, and she printed out and posted Tevis updates all day Saturday, and by Sunday morning we had the entire finish list taped to the side of her trailer. It was great!! We had lots of friends riding and all of the IDAHO riders finished!

And Seichi Hasume got his 6th Tevis Buckle!! congrats!

I'm starting to get lots of questions about the Owyhee Canyonlands ride (Sep 29 - Oct 3). I'll update the website the first of next week with current maps and entry forms. I'm working on some new trails and we will have out-vet checks for both distances on the first 4 days, and the final day will have one vetcheck in camp for both distances (50's will do 2 25 mile loops and have a hold in camp). We'll have LD's all 5 days. And a big party Saturday night! Trail riders are welcome any day, but Saturday will be best because we'll have folks in camp for registration and info. more later-

And again, CONGRATULATIONS to the Tevis riders and all the folks that help put this ride on. Our condolences to Skip for the loss of his horse, that's sad stuff any time. This sport certainly has its share of highs and lows. But, the highs carry us through the low times, as well as the bonding relationships that we form over the years with horses and riders alike.
