RE: [RC] Orchard/Alfalfa Hay - Don and Pam Bowen

A little behind in emails, but who cares what the other 10% is!  It comes to
$400 per ton!  I didn't even pay a 1/3 of that here last year when the
pricing was high due to fuel costs, and pricing is way down from last year,
for sure the alfalfa is down to $100 per ton from the premier growers and
the alfalfa growers were getting double that last year.  Last years pricing
for orchard grass/alfalfa was $125 ton, straight orchard was about $150-160
ton, grain hay $140 ton, again from the best growers that guarantee the hay,
it's gorgeous rich hay, and I expect it to go down this year.  Granted, we
could get it cheaper from less known growers, but we don't like to do that
as there's not anyone to call if we run into bad bales, and we never run
into bad bales with the good/well-known growers :). If others have to pay
that kind of price for hay, $400 per ton, I really feel for
them..................  Is it really that bad out there in other parts of
the country?
