Re: [RC] "NIH" - Kat //was: And herein lies the real source ofcomplaint - Beverley H. Kane, MDI completely agree w/ Kat's assessment. Here is my post to another list: Subj: "NIH" - Mongol Derby " Well, no one has said this yet, but believe I detected early on among the critics, especially on the LongRider's site, an element of NIH -- "Not Invented Here." NIH is characterized by expressions of self-righteous indignation and naysaying due to jealousy for not having originated the idea. While some criticisms may be valid, the sentiment is suspect many arguments are somewhere between skewed and false. This Adventure company stands to be better known after one controversial, possibly unsafe event than AERC and the LongRiders are after years of running low-profile, safety-first events. All 3 organizations have [bragging rights and] financial interests at stake. In Jungian psychology, we call this Dark Shadow projection. "We" didn't plan it or organize it and none of our heros is participating in it, so you shouldn't be doing it because only we know what we are doing with respect to riding horses long distances. _______________ Beverley Kane, MD Horsensei Equine-Assisted Learning & Therapy Woodside, CA http://www.horsensei.com The Manual of Medicine and Horsemanship-- Transforming the Doctor-Patient Relationship with Equine-Assisted Learning http://www.authorhouse.com:80/BookStore/ItemDetail.aspx?bookid=49669 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
