RE: [RC] off topic preg resuts - Rae CallawayYup. Three different mares. One was ultrasounded twice at 20 days and 27 days (second time by a reproductive specialist) and both vets said no. Had a healthy colt the following spring. This last pregnancy on that mare, I had her checked at 20 (no), 30 (no) and at 50 (yes). If your mare has cysts, it's hard to tell the difference on the ultrasound until the fetus gets large enough to overshadow the cysts. Another possibility is that the mare has a very large and roomy uterus and the embryo plants under the pelvic wall. I don't give up after that first no anymore and always get my mares checked again at a later date.
