[RC] Urgent - Last Chance for Horses in Need of Home - Michael Lewis

I had previously posted to Ridecamp that I am seeking a home for my endurance mare, LM Milonguita (Molly).  I treated her for an ethmoid hematoma in December ($2000 to have her skull cracked open and the tumor fully removed), and have ridden her periodically since then without even a trace of bleeding.  Subsequent scope in February/March timeframe revealed no regrowth.  I thought the issue was fully resolved (or wouldn't have attempted to put her out for lease recently).

Well, today Molly had a bloody nose and it appears as though the hematoma has become rather aggressive.  Molly is probably useless for Endurance now that the hematoma has resurged, but would be a fantastic broodmare.  Her stats are online on the AERC site/horse history for "LM Milonguita", as well as her partial pedigree.  She is very fast, has great breeding and a record of performance, and would be a good mom for a future endurance horse.

I also need to find a home for an older gelding, Imperial Nafal.  He is somewhat arthritic but is rideable by children and would be suited for use at a horse camp, riding clinic, etc.  He loves to run his mares and gets around okay.  Pasture ornament potential, but still useful for riding (and happy to be used for riding).

Due to significant issues at home, we need to pare down our horse herd.  I am unable to commit to treating Molly's hematoma any further due to expense, an upcoming move into town, and the need to keep the stress level at home low.  The options I see are 1) find a home for these horses within a month or so or 2) put both horses down.  I am sending this out as a last-ditch effort, and will be happy to answer questions if anyone is interested in either horse.

No lectures, please.  Have done about all I can do for these guys, but the hematoma recurrence timing is terrible and nobody around seems to want an old gelding.

Thank you,

Michael
