Re: [RC] Advice on Mountain Lions - Don HustonI heard this story years ago so feel free to correct my memory. A guy went for a short ride on his mare bareback on a wooded trail. The mountain lion was waiting on some rocks above the trail. As the horse approached she saw the lion just as it was getting ready to spring and spun and bolted throwing the rider off. The rider saw the lion land on the pad and sink it's teeth into the horse's neck just above the withers. The mare was going full speed up the trail and dodged to the side under a low branch and the impact killed the lion. There was a serious rip at the top of the withers from the teeth, the pad protected the mare's back from the claws, the rider was unhurt and rode his mare home. Score:Horse"1"....Lion"0"Don Huston =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
