[RC] preventing soreness from stirrup leathers? - Mary Krauss

The only thing that really, really hurt after my first endurance ride was where the stirrup leathers wrapped around the front of my lower leg. They pressed hard there, hard enough to cause lots of swelling the next day. They're hanging off a Freeform that so are re- positionable. I've always liked riding with my legs straight down, but would moving the stirrups forward eliminate soreness? Maybe I'm riding in more of a two-point since we're going faster? Anyone else have experience with this?

Thanks!
(Can you tell my horse isn't available today?--lost a shoe--lots of time to blab away on ridecamp....)
