RE: [RC] Folsom lake accident - SusanDon't you have to file charges in order for them to pursue a case? -----Original Message----- From: ridecamp-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:ridecamp-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Karen Standefer Sent: Thursday, January 08, 2009 7:31 AM To: 'Born Country'; ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: [RC] Folsom lake accident From experience: the authorities have to catch them in the act. Pictures, eye witnesses, and all that don't count. Like someone else said: The law is on the side of the violators, not the victims! The only way to catch these guys is to get the authorities to patrol the area on a regular enough basis to catch them. And, of course, then they will only be on the trail when it is NOT being patrolled. I was badly injured by bike riders in 2001. Lots of documentation, including license plate numbers. They never pursued the bikers who were on the trail illegally. I even knew where they lived. Nothing ever done. -----Original Message----- From: ridecamp-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:ridecamp-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Born Country Sent: Thursday, January 08, 2009 6:37 AM To: ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [RC] Folsom lake accident Just curious, most cell phones are equipped with cameras. Take a pic of the monsters and send them to the parks dept? Maybe even to the papers with the caption "Have you seen these guys?". Someone, somewhere just might recognize them and turn them in. Esther and Chagalle, still shaking his head over the senselessness of it all "Life is a canvas, throw a lot of paint on it" Danny Kaye (January 18, 1913 - March 3, 1987) "The ranger said they really need to catch them in the act." =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
