Re: [RC] AZ - New, Fast-Evolving Rabies Virus Found - Dolores ArsteThis article is a little weird. You could always get rabies from being bitten by a fox or a skunk or a bat? And, your horses too could. Last year in Arkansas a man's dog was being weird so he shot him. That was after he bit the kids, the horse and another dog. Being Arkansas, he buried the dog. A few days later he was speaking to a vet who encouraged him to dig up the dog and have it tested for Rabies. This is no joke. This really happened. You can find it in the Mena, AR newspaper. The man dug up the dog and it did test positive. The horse and the other dog were quarantined and ultimately died. 15 people underwent the rabies treatment. My horses get shots every year. If the horse or dog had shots, all that would have had to happen was a booster. That's what happened when a friend's dog in Upstate NY brought home a rabid possum.
