Title: “I maintain there is much more wonder in science than in
pseudoscience
Randelle,
I expect people give their horses more salicylates over the day of an
endurance ride in the apple sauce they use to give their electrolytes
in on the day of the ride than you gave in Red Cell or Dynamite Free
and Easy for a week.
This has nothing to do about Yucca, Red Cell or Dynamite, it has to do
with the pseudoscience used by the AERC to develop their drug policy.
A drug rule should be based on science - not pseudoscience. Sadly the
AERC has chosen to not break with the past and much of the current rule
is based on old wives tells and pseudoscience - independent of all the
rationalizations you see coming forth by those with a special interest
in the current rule because they voted for it - it is still based on a
mixture of science and wives tales. Time to get rid of the wives tales
and pseudoscience.

Folks, Just in case anyone cares, there is yucca in Red
Cell..was doing a Google search to see if there was any information
about the safety of Yucca useage in horses..and came across that info.
I am sure there are many endurance riders who use Red Cell. Have not
used it myself, but know others who use it on a regular basis.
I have used Yucca in the dosage that is included in Dynamite Free and
Easy Joint Supplement for years..good results..no testing issues...but
typically stop 3-5 days before a ride anyway...just to be safe.
