[RC] Foamy Sweat - Drin Becker

On the AERC list Susan Garlinghouse wrote;

"In horses that are dirty, or on high protein rations, the saponins will take
on a much foamier appearance (saponin is chemically related to soap), which
tend more to act as an insulating layer and thus potentially can impede heat
dissipation, depending on environmental conditions. "

I find this really interesting as my mare tends to get a foamy sweat when working her or at a ride even though she is in excellent condition . I just looked at her hay's protein test and it is in the Elevated status at 774 grams of protein if I would feed her 15.15 lbs of hay which they recommend for a maintenance diet for a 1000lb. horse , instead she only gets 10 lbs and weighs about1150 so that might drop it down to the Average ? Anyone else's horse get a foamy sweat even though they are in good condition?
