RE: [RC] a tribute to the poloponies - Karen StandeferWhat they were using to "drug" the ponies were vit/mins. Probably not unlike a lot of us do (giving WAY more selenium than normal horses would take). The problem came when a compounding pharmacy here tried to duplicate the formula that they had been purchasing in their home country. They made a HUGE error in the compounding formula and gave many, many times the amount of selenium that is safe. It's not like all these people had no clue that the horses were being pumped up (and it's a pretty good bet a lot of them are doing it too). Had the "tribute" included some mention of the dangers of drugging polo ponies, it might have been more believable. As it stands, I see it as just self-serving, or as the Indians say, "He speaks with forked tongue." =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
